When you work with the power that made the body and typically the power of that nerve system, when you clear interference off that nerve system and open up those nerve channels, the body has a return to normal function. It’s not some type of miracle or a healing. You can’t force health into a body. I want people to understand that.
Your health is directly related to how well your body adapts to your environment, and we interface with our environment through our nerve system. When people hear me talking, that’s their nerve system. When they’re nodding in agreement with me, that’s their nerve system. If they feel their bottom sitting on the chair, that’s their nerve system and that’s how we interface with the whole world. It is important to make sure that the quality of communication of the nerve system from the brain to the body goes without interference.
The best example I have of one of the most surprising benefits of chiropractic care is that I’ve had a few patients throughout my 33 year career that every time I adjusted them, they got up off the table and they swore that they could see better. Now, I know that the nerve system controls vision and eyesight and the control of the muscles of the eyes, and when you clear a nerve system, it could very well have an effect. But my goal when I set out to treat that person wasn’t like, “Gee, I want to improve their vision.”
Chiropractic is a general thing where we make the adjustments to get pressure off the nerve system to eliminate what’s called a vertebral subluxation, and that’s when those bones get out of place, pinch or irritate the nerves, and create static or miscommunication in the nerve system.
When the nerve system is functioning properly, people report better sleep quality, less pain, more energy, better coordination neurologically, improved digestion, yes, better vision, better sports performance. Lauro and Mauch did examinations on athletes in the ’90s, and they found that after only six weeks of consistent chiropractic care, the athletes who received chiropractic care had an increase in performance 6.12% better than the control group, the people who never received chiropractic care.
Chiropractic care helps improve immune system function naturally. One thing that people don’t understand, when someone becomes paralyzed or has a spinal cord injury, one of the things that the medical profession does is they put them in antibiotics for the rest of their lives because they know when you challenge and put pressure on the nerve system, the immune system doesn’t work. The immune system is controlled and regulated by the nerve system. So, people who are under chiropractic care are sick less often, miss less work, miss less school and function at much higher levels. It’s so important.
The best thing about chiropractic care, I think, is that when you’re under care, you have so much less need for medications and all these other toxins that we put in our body. We don’t pollute our body with all this stuff, and our body doesn’t have to waste valuable nerve energy trying to cleanse and break down all these toxic things that we take into our body that we think are going to help us.
It’s so important to understand that chiropractic is a holistic practice that optimizes nerve system function. The better your nerve system functions, the better you function. It’s just that simple. The benefits are unlimited. Anything that the nerve system controls that’s not working properly, when we get back control of our nerve system, these things just work better. That’s what I hang my hat on every day and that’s what gets me excited to come down into the office.
